Estee Lauder Doublewear Foundation! (NC42 Skin)
Hey guys :) It's my first blog post ever, so forgive my mistakes!
Today I'm reviewing Estee Lauder's Doublewear Stay-In-Place Foundation ($35). I bought it at Macys, after debating a long time over it. I had previously been using Revlon Colorstay Oily/Combo in the shade Toast, but I was still on the hunt for the perfect foundation. And I think I've found it!
Estee Lauder claims that this foundation has "15-hour staying power" and that it also "stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity, nonstop activity. . . .won't change color, smudge or come off on clothes. . . . feels lightweight and comfortable." You guys are probably thinking "Hmmph, that's an awful lot of promises..." Don't worry. I thought the same.
If you're involved in the makeup world, you've no doubt heard and read about EL's Doublewear foundation, and all the high praise it receives. That praise does not go undeserved! Doublewear has become my HG foundation!
It does everything it promises. I have so many acne scars, and I still suffer from a pore-clogged nose and the occasional pimple. Still, I look airbrushed with this foundation. I took pictures in fluorescent bathroom light, and bright sunlight, as well as with camera flash, and I nearly cried from being so happy. My skin looks flawless.
The foundation feels light on my face, and it doesn't look cakey (so far I've only used it with a beauty sponge, so I'm not sure about the results with a brush or finger application). It is full coverage, and it doesn't transfer no matter what (actually, I have to scrub it off at night). It's matte, which is another thing I like, since I get shiny around my nose.
They have a good variety of shades in my opinion- I was given three color samples. The first time the lady gave me Soft Chestnut (5C1) which was WAY too red and dark for me. I went back and I different lady gave me Shell Beige (4W1) which was a bit too light, and Bronze (5W1) which was perfect. I recommend either Shell Beige or Bronze if you are warm-toned and NC42 in MAC, or Toast in Revlon Colorstay. Buuuttt. Don't trust me or any of those ladies at the makeup counter! Swatch them for yourself! (Below: Shell Beige seems perfect, but my face is darker than the underside of my forearm...)
For $35 dollars, I can say it was worth it-- and that's coming from my broke college student self. The tiniest amount goes a long way (I used the sample they gave me for a full week and there's still a little left!), so I think of it as money well spent.
All in all, if you're looking for full coverage and a flawless matte finish that stays where you put it, give it a try!
xoxo, ashbee
